The Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) on 7 March 2025, joined forces with the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) and the National Blood Transfusion Center (NBTC) to organize a vital blood donation campaign. Held at the Institute for Banking Studies, the initiative, themed “Donate Blood to Save Lives,” underscored a shared commitment to bolstering social welfare within the Kingdom. The objective of this collaborative effort was to actively engage the private sector, with a particular focus on the banking and finance industry, in the crucial act of blood donation. Furthermore, the campaign served as an important platform to elevate public awareness regarding the significance of regular blood donations in sustaining the national blood supply and ensuring timely medical assistance for those in need.
The collective efforts of the participating organizations yielded a remarkable outcome, with an impressive total of 504 bags of blood successfully collected throughout the day. This substantial contribution was made possible by the generous participation of approximately 600 individuals, comprising representatives from various banking and finance institutions alongside enthusiastic students.
The impact of this blood donation campaign extends far beyond the immediate number of bags collected. Each donation represents a potential lifeline for individuals undergoing surgery, battling chronic illnesses, recovering from traumatic injuries, or facing complications during childbirth. In a nation where access to safe and sufficient blood supplies can be a matter of life and death, the contribution from the banking and finance community, along with the support of students, plays a pivotal role in strengthening the capacity of the National Blood Transfusion Center to meet the ongoing needs of the healthcare system, and directly contribute to saving lives and alleviating suffering within Cambodian society.
Ultimately, the success of the “Donate Blood to Save Lives” campaign serves as an inspiring example of the positive impact that can be achieved through collaboration and a shared dedication to social good. The partnership between the CMA, ABC, and NBTC highlights the crucial role that private sector organizations can play in supporting public health initiatives.
