[Khmer Times]: The Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) and the Cambodia Microfinance Association (CMA) co-organised a workshop in Battambang province to strengthen governance, customer protection and operational excellence in the banking and financial sector.
The workshop on ‘Strengthening Governance and Operational Excellence in the Banking and Financial Sector for Sustainable Growth’ was chaired by Lay Sokheng, Assistant Governor and Director General of Regulation and Financial Inclusion of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), and Sreng Hong, Deputy Governor of Battambang Province, on July 2.
The event brought together 80 regional and branch leaders from banking and financial institutions across Pursat, Battambang, Pailin and Banteay Meanchey provinces to exchange knowledge and enhance leadership capabilities in line with the sector’s evolving needs.
During the workshop, NBC experts delivered presentations on ‘Customer Protection and Governance Framework’ and ‘Credit Classification by Sector, Institution and Economic Activity for Banking and Financial Institutions’.
The presentations focused on strengthening the understanding of good governance principles, professional ethics, customer protection, and the accurate classification of credit by sector and economic activity across banking and financial institutions.
The workshop also provided a platform for participants to share experiences and best practices aimed at improving operational efficiency, reinforcing ethical standards, and promoting sound governance to better serve customers and support the sustainable development of Cambodia’s banking and financial sector.
